Before you arrive
Thank you for booking your next school visit with us! Below is what you need to know to make the most out of your visit to the National Army Museum in Waiouru.
RAMS form: Download a copy of our Risk Analysis Management Form to help with your planning.
Museum map: Get a lay of the land with a copy of our Sensory Floor Plan.
Waiouru weather: We are infamous for having four seasons in one day! Bring warm clothing and suitable footwear. Our Museum can also get warm inside, so layers will be your students’ best friend.
Parking: There is bus and car parking in our rear car park, accessed from Hassett Drive.
Student supervision ratio: We will defer to your school policy for ratios, however, students do need to be actively supervised by your accompanying adults. No catch and release please!
Food and drink: It is our policy that no food or drink is permitted in the Museum galleries.
Lunch spaces: We have plenty of space outdoors, including picnic tables. For wet weather, we do have inside options, but spaces are limited to 50 persons at a time.
Accessibility: We have wheelchair access in the Museum via a ramp and a lift, and a mobility accessible toilet. The Museum also has two wheelchairs available for visitors to use.
Sensory alert: Due to the nature of our stories and some of the displays, some spaces are loud with flashing lights. See our Sensory Floor Map for more information. Please advise us if your students require support.
Teacher orientation visits: You are welcome to call in, ring, or email to plan your visit.
If you have any further questions, our Teachers are more than happy to help. Thank you for considering us to support your learning outside of the classroom.
